January 27-28, 2020, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan public union has organized training of trainers on the “Career with Purpose” program for the staff of the “Məktəblinin Dostu” (Friends of School) project. The training was conducted within the framework of the project “Build the future: Career planning and development for Schoolchildren” with the organizing of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and financial support Chevron Khazar. The main purpose of the two-day training was to familiarize the trainers with the teaching methodology of the Career with Purpose program.
During the training, the most important factors for successful career choices, such as personal values, skills and interests, were widely discussed. The friends of schoolchildren then analyzed the sessions of Career with Purpose program and made presentations in the form of teams.
Since 2015, JA Azerbaijan has supported more than 1,700 schoolchildren in order to support them to choose a profession and future career related to their interests and skills within the framework “Build the future: Career planning and development for Schoolchildren” project. Since 2017, the organization has begun to cooperate with the “Məktəblinin Dostu” (Friends of School) project to make the project sustainable and has trained more than 60 friends of schoolchildren as trainers.
Starting from this year, the organization will also engage boarding-schools to the project by expanding its career planning activities. The purpose of the JA Azerbaijan is to increase self-esteem and social integration of youth studying in boarding schools and to make them feel that they are responsible individuals of our society.
This year, overall 700 youth of secondary and boarding-school will benefit from the project.
