Public and private partnership as a new way to deliver financial literacy at schools.
On October 30, 2019, the round table discussion on “Involvement of the Professionals into the Process of Financial Literacy Teaching at the schools” was organized by Junior Achievement Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Micro-Finance Association. The meeting was held in the framework of the “Entrepreneurship for Youth” project, funded by the European Union and co-funded by PASHA Bank. The representatives from FINCA Azerbaijan, Bank of Baku, Access Bank, TBC Credit, Nikoil Bank, Bank Republic, PASHA Bank, Unibank, Caucasus Credit attended the meeting. Bakhtiyar Akhundov, country director of Chevron Khazar and chairman of the JAA board, shared his successful experience and highlighted the positive impact of corporate volunteering on the professional development of youth.
The Executive Director of JAA, Ms. Sevinj Mammadova informed the guests about the project’s objectives, current activities, opportunities for the corporate volunteering within the framework of the project and emphasized the role of business professionals in advancing employability skills of youth. The key focus of the discussion was to underline the importance of corporate volunteering to enhance financial literacy among youth and educators. Representatives of financial institutions appreciated the initiative and expressed their interest to join the project.
At the moment, 3000 students from the first specialized vocational and secondary schools in Baku, Ganja, Gakh, Mingachevir, Khachmaz, Masalli, Gabala and Zagatala districts are participating in financial literacy training.
