JAA Initiatives and projects
Career Planning and Development Program is designed for schoolchildren and youth. This program introduces to students the importance of seeking careers that help them to realize their potential, discover new emerging professions, and advice for a successful career path.
Within this initiative, JAA implements these projects:
Build the Future: Career Planning and Development for Secondary School Students
This project is supported by Chevron Khazar and engaged more than 2047 students during 2015-2019 academic years. Starting from the 2017-2018 academic year, the project is organized jointly with the “Friends of School” and a total of 60 student-trainers were involved. The objective of the project is to prepare youth for their future career, develop their professional skills, and encourage youth to run their own business. Through hands-on classroom activities, participants will determine their interests, strengths, weaknesses and values. The project consists of three main activities, which are:
a) afterschool career orientation and personal skills training program;
b) meetings with business professionals;
c) student teams’ project presentations.
Youth Empowerment and Leadership Program
This program (2019-2020) is implemented with the financial support of the UNICEF and EU. The main objective of the project, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Youth Foundation, and UNFPA is to enhance professional skills and employment opportunities for young people. The project works closely with Binagadi, Khazar District Youth House, Mingachevir City Youth House, Shamkir, Bilasuvar, and Kazakh Youth Development and Career Centers. It includes three Program pillars, which are: Work readiness; Financial Literacy; Entrepreneurship, and is planned to be trained via Youth Houses and Development and Career Centers both in classrooms and online. The YELP project gathers 1,500 young people from various age groups for the work readiness and career planning and 240 people for financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Career Orientation and Planning Training for Youth
The main objective of the training sessions is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to enable them to better focus on their future professional choices. The student analyses herself/himself and the work environment. Also to reach his/her goals the student prepares an action plan. In addition, a number of management skills are trained, i.e. project management, problem-solving, personal effectiveness. With the help of self-assessment exercises, and detailed discussions they will have confidence to decide what their next move will be.
